Sarah Schaefer currently serves as a Senior Democratic Tax Policy Advisor for the Senate Finance Committee, where she has served under Chair Wyden since 2017. In this capacity, she develops and analyzes federal tax proposals, particularly policy impacting pass-through entities, real estate, self-employment tax, financial products, and high-net-worth individuals. Sarah advised Senator Wyden and the Democratic Caucus through the legislative process for the 2017 Republican tax law, the CARES Act of 2020, the American Rescue Plan Act, and most recently the Inflation Reduction Act. Prior to joining the Committee, Sarah was a Tax Manager in the Subchapter K Mergers & Acquisitions practice at PwC. Sarah received a Masters in Studies of Tax Law from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from East Tennessee State University. Sarah is a Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia.
