Description
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act created a new tax-favored savings vehicle known as a "Trump Account," and Treasury and the IRS have already issued proposed regulations addressing account establishment and administration. Employer contributions of up to $2,500 annually raise numerous questions regarding payroll reporting, nondiscrimination, benefit design, and potential ERISA implications. This panel will discuss the tax treatment of employer contributions, payroll withholding and reporting issues, interaction with existing education and family financial wellness benefits, open questions under ERISA and cafeteria plan rules, and practical implementation challenges for employers.
