Marie Milnes-Vasquez joins EY’s National Tax Mergers and Acquisitions Group, based in Washington DC, as of early November. Marie focuses on the federal income taxation of corporations, with an emphasis on issues involving U.S. consolidated groups and troubled companies.
Previously, Marie served as Special Counsel to the Associate Chief Counsel (Corporate). Her portfolio included managing the office’s guidance program and supervising drafting teams working on guidance pertaining to topics throughout the jurisdiction of ACC (Corporate). She most recently spearheaded the development of the proposed M&A and consolidated return guidance with regard to the Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax. In over 25 years at the IRS, she drafted numerous pieces of guidance in the subchapter C area, as well as being integrally involved with almost every consolidated return regulation published during her tenure. In addition, she advised the Associate Chief Counsel on all technical matters within the office’s jurisdiction, and was closely involved with high profile tax controversy matters.
Before joining the Service, Marie served as law clerk to the Hon. Laurence J. Whalen of the United States Tax Court and worked in private practice in Washington DC. Marie earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.
