Speaker Bio
Nancy is the Executive Director of The Community Tax Law Project (CTLP). She previously served as the staff attorney with CTLP for over ten years. Nancy zealously represents low-income taxpayers in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and the Virginia Department of Taxation at all levels of controversy including audits, collections, innocent spouse relief, and U.S. Tax Court. Nancy also regularly advocates for issues affecting low income taxpayers and vulnerable populations including domestic violence survivors, English as a second language speakers, and migrant farmworkers.
Nancy received her B.A. Summa Cum Laude from the University of Binghamton, State University of New York, and her J.D. from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law where she served as the Annual Survey Editor for the Journal of Law and Technology.
Nancy serves as Counsel for the Virginia Bar Association Tax Section and she is the Associate Secretary for the American Bar Association (ABA) Tax Section. She previous served as Vice Chair and Chair of the ABA’s Pro Bono and Tax Clinics Committee. Nancy is also a member of the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association and the Virginia State Bar’s Access to Justice Pro Bono Coordinating Consortium.
