Steve is a former federal senior executive at the IRS where he led legal support for the IRS’s largest business division, influencing critical areas related to the implementation of major tax legislation, tax processing, and identity theft prevention. Steve played pivotal role in both the rapid distribution of nearly 90 million stimulus payments to the American public starting in April 2020 and the launch of significant tax credit programs for advance child and health tax credits. Steve was recognized through multiple awards including Chief Counsel Attorney of the Year (Operations) (2020) and three Treasury Legal Division team awards (2020, 2021, 2022). He is a passionate and seasoned tax volunteer, reviewing and preparing individual income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for more than 20 years.
Steve received his B.A. in mathematics from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law.
