Richard Rubin is the U.S. tax policy reporter for The Wall Street Journal in Washington, where he focuses on the intersection of politics, economics, legislation and regulation.
He tracks how Americans interact with the U.S. tax code and the Internal Revenue Service and explores how taxes shape decisions by businesses and individuals. Richard was the lead author on the Journal's coverage of the 2017 and 2025 tax laws.
Before joining the Journal in 2015, Richard covered U.S. tax policy for Bloomberg News and Congressional Quarterly. Earlier in his career, he wrote about local government and transportation policy for the Charlotte Observer. He is a native of New Jersey and a graduate of Duke University.
