Adam Strait is an Assistant Director in the Tax Litigation Branch, Trial Section, of the U.S. Department of Justice (previously the Tax Division). He reviews the work of trial attorneys handling more than 200 active cases in six states. Before becoming a manager, Adam was a trial attorney in the Western Region, where his docket included shelter cases, complex bankruptcies, and defending challenges to Treasury Regulations. The Department has recognized Adam for his work on issues as varied as administrative law, electronic discovery, FBAR practice and procedure, and § 6103. He is the Tax Litigation Branch's AI Officer and a frequent teacher at the Department's National Advocacy Center, where he trains attorneys on motions practice, depositions, written discovery, and trial advocacy. Before joining the Department through the Honors Program, Adam clerked for the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts and the D.C. Court of Appeals. He is a graduate of Yale Law School and Pomona College.
