Attorneys are taught to prepare well and control what they can in the courtroom. But at the same time, attorneys often find themselves in high-stakes discussions and negotiations that are beyond their full control. Along with their knowledge of the law, they need the ability to listen fully, engage and persuade, read the room, adapt, and creatively solve problems in the midst of uncertainty and change.
Every night, improvisers hit the stage and engage and delight audiences entirely without a script. It’s opening and closing night, all at once. Yet despite the impromptu nature of improv, improvisers still rehearse every week, using improv principles and games to build skills in communication, collaboration, and creativity, competencies that are equally critical to effective work off the stage for attorneys.
This applied improv workshop will use improv principles and exercises to help attorneys build and rehearse the skills that will help them better connect with peers and clients, negotiate effectively, creatively solve problems, and gain confidence and resilience in critical high stakes, off-the-cuff communication.
