This panel will provide filing season updates with a focus on the IRS Direct File program. The 2025 filing season will see an unprecedented expansion of the Direct File program, allowing qualifying taxpayers in 25 states to e-file their taxes for free with the IRS. Panelists will also discuss how Direct File relates to the broader contexts of IRS modernization and taxpayer rights.
