This panel will provide an overview of the new remittance excise tax that was included in the OBBBA, along with various policy perspectives behind the legislation.  The panel will then address the practical impact of the legislation, including which persons may be subject to this 1% excise tax.  Next, the panel will discuss some proposals or areas that the Treasury Department may consider when promulgating regulations and future guidance from the IRS.  Lastly, the panel will contemplate on the potential future of the legislation.
