Description

Using a model case file as a guiding framework, this interactive session walks you through the life cycle of a case and the wide range of responsibilities handled by paralegals and legal assistants at each stage. Our dynamic panel examines how a case develops from initial client contact through investigation, pleadings, motion practice, and trial preparation, gaining a clearer understanding of how each task fits into the broader litigation strategy.

Topics include conducting client interviews, assisting with investigations, drafting and organizing pleadings and motions, managing exhibits and evidence, supporting trial preparation, and handling post-trial briefings and follow-up tasks. While the session focuses primarily on civil litigation, it will also highlight key criminal law components where procedures and responsibilities differ. The session emphasizes practical skills, organization, and effective case management to help you contribute confidently and efficiently throughout the life of a case.
