Hilary P. Gerzhoy, Esq. is a partner at HWG LLP and vice chair of the firm’s legal ethics and malpractice group. She represents lawyers and firms in disciplinary investigations, malpractice cases, and high-stakes arbitrations, handling matters before various disciplinary bodies including those in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and the USPTO. Ms. Gerzhoy also advises on legal ethics issues, including conflicts of interest, advertising, and law firm formations.
Ms. Gerzhoy is vice chair of the D.C. Bar Rules of Professional Conduct Review Committee and serves on the ABA’s Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility. In 2022, she was appointed to the D.C. Circuit’s Advisory Committee on Admissions and Grievances. Additionally, she teaches legal ethics as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and has published over thirty articles on legal ethics, featured in major outlets like the Chicago Tribune and Bloomberg Law.
She earned her JD from UC Berkeley School of Law, where she was an online editor for the California Law Review and received the Prosser Award. She holds a BA from the University of Chicago, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
